Aaron Marcus

Aaron Marcus is best-known throughout the country for their performances with Frost & Fire, The Turning Stile, Cedar Waxwing, StellaFlora, and formerly Giant Robot Dance. Aaron also brings exuberant energy, danceability, subtle lyricism, deep emotion, and whimsy to any band arrangement, whether as an accompanist on piano or as a percussive dancer while playing the concertina.

Aaron’s award-winning albums, Garden Dreams and Men Don’t Cry, are filled with original danceable piano works. Garden Dreams is a unique concept album where the piano work underlies spoken-word poetry read largely by Sam Sanders, described as “artful, touching, good grief of the best kind.” Keep your eyes peeled for another album of original dance music set to Sam’s original poetry and an accompanying book of more than 100 original tunes to be released this year!

You can find Aaron playing for English, contra, Scottish, and many other dance styles, or just as likely dancing with you on the dance floor. When not dancing (and sometimes while dancing!), Aaron works as an endangered-species botanist and wetland scientist in Vermont and will be delighted to engage with you about all the cool plants and ecosystems of Pinewoods.
