Casey Murray is a multi-instrumentalist performer, composer, and educator who finds creative joy collaborating in musical conversation. Playing for contra dancing with bands Calico, Northwoods, and Nobody’s Business, Casey delights dancers with an irresistible groove on cello and guitar. They also tour with their folk duo Casey Murray & Molly Tucker. They have put out multiple records with the band Corner House and released their debut Casey & Molly album in 2022.
Casey is a graduate of Berklee College of Music, holding a Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance and a minor in American Roots Music Studies. They innovate across genres, drawing from their roots in styles including Celtic, old-time, New England contra, folk, classical, and improvisation. In their words, “playing for dancing feels like being a part of something bigger. A collaboration in a moment of time between dancer, musician, and caller.”
