Eden MacAdam-Somer went to her first jam session and contra dance in Amherst, MA when she was 13 years old. That night inspired a lifetime love and fascination with music and dance, carrying her all over the world to teach, perform, and study.
Today, Eden serves as Chair of the Department of Contemporary Musical Arts at New England Conservatory, where she works with a diverse community of young artists on music of all kinds. Outside the classroom, Eden maintains an active, eclectic international performance and recording career, but her greatest love remains playing for dancing and sharing traditional tunes. She lives in Boston with her husband (videographer Aaron Hartley) and three children.
