Josh Bearman is a musician and educator living in Richmond, VA. Josh has toured extensively throughout the US, UK, and parts of Europe, playing banjo, mandolin, bass, and guitar in The Hot Seats, a stringband with wide ranging influences and sounds.
Not ascribing to any particular region or style of traditional music, he has modeled his musical sound on a singular ethos: fun.
Outside of the band, Josh has performed in dance and festival competition bands with many other excellent musicians from in and around VA/NC/KY/TN/GA.
Beyond playing music, Josh is currently the Programs Director for the Blue Sky Fund, which works to provide outdoor learning for students in Richmond who would otherwise not have the opportunity.
For other fun, he spends time with his family, paddles on the James River in Richmond, and, since 2005 has hosted a weekly bluegrass/old-time/blues/ragtime program called The Edge of Americana on WRIR.
