Louis Henschen is a violinist based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Beginning violin lessons at the age of 4 in his hometown of Austin, Texas, Louis was trained in the classical tradition of solo and orchestral repertoire, eventually receiving his Bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Baylor University in 2018. After graduation, Louis moved to Ann Arbor where he began studies at the University of Michigan, where he received a Master of Music degree in 2020. Throughout his musical career and since graduation, Louis has gained experience in violin pedagogy, instrument repair, and performance in classical, baroque, and contra styles, as well as occasionally playing viola. He currently works as coordinator of the Shar Music repair and restoration shop in Ann Arbor, and performs with the Kalkaska string quartet and the contra dance band Pimento Mori.
