Dance, sing, play, repeat: party in the woods!

Welcome to Virtual American Week – we hope you find something that sparks your interest. Do as much or as little as you like. Enjoy!

If you’re on Facebook, please join our community group. We’ll be posted a series of prompts throughout the week for you to join in and share memories.

If you’re not on Facebook, don’t worry! Here are a couple of other ways you can participate:
Help us write a collaborative story! Started by Julia Friend, waiting to be finished by you – click here to read the story so far and write the next chapter yourself!
Tuitions-to-Donations: support Black Lives Matter with your Pinewoods tuition (or some portion).

Bookmaking at home!August 9
The wonderful Annie Fain Barralon will do a tutorial for how to make a small accordion fold book with things you already have at your house. This will be a prerecorded video that we will broadcast at the scheduled time. It will be available for you to watch later in the week, too.
Online Dance Callers’ SeminarAugust 10
Led by Scott Higgs, this discussion will focus on program choices and dance choreography. What is it like to call an online dance? How do you find, adapt, or create dances that are particularly fun ? We’re still learning what works—join us to compare notes, share stories, and develop plans to maximize dancers’ enjoyment.
Stuntology! August 11
Sam Bartlett has made a lifelong practice of learning and documenting the do-it-yourself entertainment, he calls ‘Stuntology.’ In these clips he will show you how to steal the shirt off someone’s back, how to pull a cork out of a bottle, and how to drink a glass of water perched on your forehead without using your hands.
Blues ClassAugust 12
Learn beginner blues… from home! Clayton Jennings will introduce blues dance history and do a beginner Jookin’ lesson. Get warmed up for next year.
